"Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act."

Psalm 37:7

If Christians want to practice Psalm 37:7, we must do so by looking at life through spiritual lenses that enable us to:

  • Commit our plans to the Lord.
  • Trust Him with those plans.
  • And patiently wait for Him to act.

In general, people are good at planning things out (careers, relationships, and more), but often fail to include God in those plans. Assuming that your plans are God's plans is a mistake many people make. In fact, it's been said that God has a sense of humor and laughs at personal goals and objectives that doesn't include Him. 

In Psalms 37:7, the psalmist gives rock solid and God-directed advice when he writes, "Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act."

  • How do we avoid doing things our way instead of God's way?
  • How do we trust God when we've been dissapointed by people time and time again? 
  • How do we learn to wait for Him to act? 

We learn to avoid our way, overcome dissapointment, and patiently wait on God by practicing three (3) things: 

  1. Surrender your plans to God.
  2. Act with intention when it comes to trusting God, because He will never fail you.
  3. Confidently wait for God to act knowing He will do something about your situation.  

There's nothing wrong with making plans as long as you surrender those plans to God's will and direction for your life. When it comes to trust, people will sometime dissapoint, but God never will. And when it comes to patience, remember, God is not structured and/or bound by time like we are. He may not come when you want Him, but He's always on time.
