"Never Let Yourself Be Defeated"
"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." Philippians 4:13
Life gets confusing and challenging, especially when you don't know what's happening or why. George Eliot said, "It is never too late to be what you might have been." The words of George Eliot remind me of something Michael Jordan once said: "Some people want it to happen, some wish it would happen, others make it happen." Which of those three categories would you say applies most to you when it comes to life? Do you want to, wish to, or make things happen in your life despite the challenges? With God's help and direction, that's a question you must answer for yourself.
Today, as you prepare for what life has in store for you, I would like to ask you to consider two crucial words:
In my book, Conflicts Within, I write about the importance of both words and the critical need to know the difference between them. It's important because we often don't know what life may bring. So, when life unexpectedly happens, think about the words of Charles R. Swindoll, who said, "Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it." With every unexpected life event, there is an immediate reaction. Don't let your reactions overwhelm your responses. As Muhammad Ali said, "You will face many defeats in life, but never let yourself be defeated."
