Yesterday, I began my series on prayer (One Prayer at a Time). Today, let's continue the series with Prayer-2 (P2). I would like to begin by thanking you for your responses to yesterday's devotional. I want to use the same scripture I used yesterday as the foundation to this series. James 4:2 says, "You have not because you ask not." As stated yesterday, we do not want to be found guilty of such a costly mistake. Before listing my prayer request for today, I would like to discuss the meaning of James 4:2.
In the above scripture, James is emphasizing the importance of being straight with God as evidenced by bringing your prayer request to Him boldly and directly. In addition, James was warning Christians to avoid taking shortcuts when it comes to prayer. What do you think I mean when I say, shortcuts? The answer is simple, instead of creating an atmosphere of conflict, and/or verbally scheming to block the blessings of others because of your own insecurities, James is simply instructing the saints to trust God for the blessings He has for them by first getting on their own knees and have a direct and sincere talk with the Lord trusting Him to bless in accordance to His will. Today, we use the phrase "hating on others" to explain what James was saying in his day and time. So, in our language today, let me clearly and boldly encourage Christians with similar insecurities to stop hating on what God has and/or will bless others with. Instead, get on your knees, pray, and make your request known to God.
Thursday's Request: People-Resources (Advisory Board for Church Planting) - Yesterday, I asked you to pray that God will bless us with People-Resources.
Today's Prayer Request
A Worship Center in the Right Place and at the Right Time - As we continue to trust God for expansion, please ask God to bless us to be in the right place at the right time, and in the right location. I believe that people-resources will play a big role in today's prayer request.
Whatever your prayer request is for today, please don't hesitate to share.
