As I spiritually prepare for our upcoming Community Candlelight Vigil and Grief Support Group, I would like to ask my subscribers a few questions:
Every week, people carry grief that may not be visible. Some have lost spouses, children, parents, siblings, or dear friends. One common denominator I've learned about grief is that grief does not recognize denominational boundaries, racial differences, economic circumstances, or church membership. Grieif does not discriminate, nor does it care about your race and/or class.
I've facilitated many grief support groups and I've interacted with people from all walks of life. I've held hands with, and prayed for many, which is why Pathways To Peace is not just an invitation to those that are grieving, it is also an invitation to unite in faith, compassion, and community healing.
I firmly believe that when people of faith work together, we can reach hurting individuals and families for beyond the walls of any one congregation, which is why I sincerely hope and pray that you and yours stand with us in this important effort.
Here are a few ways in which you can stand with us:
Together, we can remind our communities that although grief is deeply personal, no one has to walk through it alone. As Romans 12:15 says, "weep with them that weep." This is more than a comforting passage; it is a call to action.
