"Preparing for A Beautiful Day"

For everything God created is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, because it is consecrated by the word o fGod and prayer." I Timothy 4:4-5    

When I think about Thanksgiving, the word gratitude comes to my heart, mind, and spirit. We are now on the Eve of a holiday that helps bring out the best in everyone. An article written by House Beautiful states, "Part of celebrating Thanksgiving is to reflect on gratitude..." As you prepare to spend time with family and friends on this upcoming holiday, please make this poem by Paul Laurence Dunbar a part of your preparations:

Thou hast, with ever watchful eye,                                                                                                                                Looked down on us with the holy care,                                                                                                                            And from thy storehouse in the sky                                                                                                                                  Hast scattered plenty everywhere. 

Then lift we up our songs of praise                                                                                                                                          To thee, O Father, good and kind;                                                                                                                                        To thee we consecrate our days;                                                                                                                                          Be thine the temple of each mind. 

With incense sweet our thanks                                                                                                                                            ascend;                                                                                                                                                                           Before thy works our powers pall;                                                                                                                              Though we should strive years                                                                                                                                    without end,                                                                                                                                                                        We could not than thee for them all.
