The Power of Possible

There are times when the Enemy attacks and you don't see it coming. Have you ever found yourself ready and willing to do something you know God has placed upon your heart, but your lack of, or access to important resources stand in your way? If that sounds like you, I want to encourage you in a special way today.

It doesn't matter what stands in your way or what wilderness you may live in, God has the power to make a way in your wilderness and place streams in your wasteland. I am reminded of a New Testament family that experienced the death of their brother. I'm sure you've read the true life story of Mary, Martha, and their brother Lazarus. Lazarus died, and Jesus (close family friend) did not attend the funeral. In fact, by the time Jesus did arrive, Lazarus was dead four days. You talking about a family in the wilderness and surrounded by wasteland, this family was the perfect example.  

To say the least, Lazarus's sisters (Mary and Martha) were upset with Jesus. In fact, Mary refused to greet Him upon his arrival, and Martha told Jesus that Lazarus would not have died if he had arrived before her brother's death. Read the exchange between Martha and Jesus:

¹⁷ So when Jesus came, He found that he had already been in the tomb four days. ¹⁸ Now Bethany was near Jerusalem, about two miles away. ¹⁹ And many of the Jews had joined the women around Martha and Mary, to comfort them concerning their brother.

²⁰ Then Martha, as soon as she heard that Jesus was coming, went and met Him, but Mary was sitting in the house. ²¹ Now Martha said to Jesus, “Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died. ²² But even now I know that whatever You ask of God, God will give You.”

²³ Jesus said to her, “Your brother will rise again.”

²⁴ Martha said to Him, “I know that he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day.”

²⁵ Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. ²⁶ And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?”

²⁷ She said to Him, “Yes, Lord, I believe that You are the Christ, the Son of God, who is to come into the world.”

I highlighted Martha's respones to Jesus because at the heart of her statement is what's known as a triune confession (verse 27). Jesus made it clear to Martha that He is the resurrection and the life, but he closes his bold statement with a question. Jesus ask Martha, do you believe this? Martha's response is known as a triune confession, "Yes, Lord, I believe that You are the Christ, the Son of God, who is to come into the world." In our vocabulary today, Martha was simply saying that she doesn't know how Jesus is going to do what He claims He can do, but regardless of her lack of knowledge and/or understanding, she still believes. 

• You may not know how Jesus is going to do what He promises to do in your life.
• You may be filled with doubt and burdened with questions. 
• You may not have the skills and resources you need.

Regardless of what you don't have, never stop believing in Jesus and what He can and will do in your life. "Impossible is a word used by people who find it easier to live in the world they've been given than to explore the power they have to change it. May God bless you with the power of possible."

Jesus is the difference!
