"Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth."
II Timothy 2:15
Whose feet do you sit at when it comes to holistic growth and productivity? The disciples sat at the feet of Jesus to gain knowledge and practice life application skills. The disciples did not expose themselves to the teachings of others because they were blessed with direct access to the master teacher.
I encourage you to be very careful when it comes to who you allow to access and/or influence your thinking and decision-making. It doesn't matter how charismatic the person may be, nor should it matter how authoritative/convincing the person sounds; the person you look to for wisdom and knowledge should not be because he or she looks and/or sounds good, because there's a lot more to it than that. There is nothing wrong with chrisma or authoritative speaking, but there is something wrong when that chrisma and authoritative voice isn't guided by godly advice and direction. When sitting at the feet of any leader for understanding and life-application, make sure that person is Christ-centered, Holy Spirit-led, and Mission-bound.
As you prepare for what life has in store for you today, please carry this Discipleship Devotional in your spirit, heart, and mind. Remember what the apostle Paul said to his son in the ministry, Timothy: "Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth."
