When I don't understand why God allows certain things to take place, instead of blaming Him for the uncertainties, I've learned to just go with it by trusting Him in and through the life event. Experience has taught me not only to trust God when life is good, but also to trust Him when life doesn't make sense. The Lord deposited this teaching in my spirit as I asked what He would have me say to His people today:

  • Maybe you haven't arrived at that level of faith yet.
  • Maybe something happened in your life unexpectedly.
  • Maybe the enemy has you focused on your needs instead of the One who can and will supply your every need.

If that's your experience, believe me when I say, I know what you're going through. Trusting God in and through difficult times often doesn't happen overnight. Life experiences can at times draw us closer to God, and other times cause us to distance ourselves from Him. If your life experiences have widened the gap between you and the Lord, I have good news for you. Even in your decision to distance yourself from God, God will never distance Himself from you. Even when you feel alone, He's always there.

Think about it from the perspective of Proverbs 22:6: "Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it." Does that verse mean that a person will never distance themselves from God? No, that's not the meaning of this verse. In fact, the meaning of this verse is the very opposite; it's not about us leaving God, it's about God never leaving us. The biblical/godly training we have and continue to receive from God and others will always remain with us, because God's word isn't something we can simply withdraw from or take away. Experiencing God is an indelible mark, limitless wellspring, and irrevocable trust.

The word of God you received in your childhood and beyond is the same word that will remain with you and see you through whatever you may be experiencing in life. There may have been a time in your life when you decided to leave God, but remember, God will never leave you.
