For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope. Romans 15:4
Welcome to Day 2 of our Prayer and Preparation Period. Let's take a moment to reflect on Day 1. Yesterday evening, I invited you to begin this sacred time by asking you to start with prayer:
Pray for a Fresh Start
Pray for Divine Purpose for the New Year
Pray for Holistic Growth (Mind, Body, Spirit, Emotions, and Soul)
Today, I would like to begin Day 2 of the Prayer and Preparation Period for the coming new year by posing an important question. If you don't know where you've come from, how will you know where you are going? Living in the past is something you should avoid, but reflecting on the past is essential for making informed decisions about your future. With that said, I am now asking you to reflect upon your successes and failures this year by asking yourself and answering the following questions:
What goals have I accomplished this year?
What goals did I fail to achieve this year?
Have I experienced holistic growth in all aspects of my life: spiritually, mentally, emotionally, physically, socially, and environmentally? If so, in what ways did I grow, and in what ways did I not experience growth?
As you reflect on the above questions, it's essential to understand that achieving an in-depth reflection of the past requires more than just your devotional time each day. I'm asking you to set aside additional time daily so that, by God's direction, you can make real and lasting preparations for the coming new year.
As you prepare for what life has in store for you today, keep this Discipleship Devotional in your heart and mind. In addition, remember these words: "As we reflect on the past, we uncover truths and revelations about ourselves and our journey. With God’s guidance, we can see how He was present in our lives during pivotal moments. These realizations inspire us to lean on His wisdom moving forward. Embracing these insights allows us to strengthen our faith and helps us to understand that our past experiences, while sometimes painful, are essential in shaping who we are today."
