"Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans." Proverbs 16:3

I hope and pray that Day 2 of the Prayer and Preparation Period was a healthy and productive experience. I find it refreshing and rewarding to reflect on my successes and failures before making plans for the upcoming new year. This is something you can do on your own, with your spouse, close relative, mentor, or best friend. I can imagine you writing down the goals you accomplished this year on one side of your paper, and on the other side, the goals you did not achieve. For today's Discipleship Devotional (Day 3), I want you to prayerfully ask and answer two questions and complete one action step as follows:

Question #1

What goals have I accomplished this year?

Question #2

Which goals do I need to remove from my list?

Action Step #1 - What Stays and What Goes

At the bottom page of your goals sheet or on the back of the page, I want you to list the goals you've prayerfully decided to remove. As you make decisions about which goals need to be removed from your list, it's not a bad idea to consult with someone who is full of wisdom and has your utmost respect. That person could be your parents, pastor, therapist, mentor, relative, and/or best friend.

There are many reasons why specific goals may not be accomplished. It doesn't always mean that you did something wrong, so don't be too hard on yourself. Unmet goals can be for many reasons:

You may have had too many goals in the first place.

Your goals may not be realistic after further evaluation.

You may have failed to develop the necessary objectives to help you accomplish your goals.

Lack of motivation and more.

As you prepare for what life has in store for you today, please ask and answer the two questions listed above, and complete one action step by listing the goals you need to remove from your list. Before you start adding new goals for the coming new year, decide what to do about your unmet goals from this year. If not, then you may end up with a list of unmet and unrealistic goals for the new year.
