"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." Hebrews 11:1

There are times when I don't understand for a moment what God is doing or why he allows what I consider ungodly things to happen. I do realize that it all dates back to the fall of humanity, the entrance of sin into the world. But still, I find myself wondering why things are the way they are in this world. It would be nice if we could understand everything, but if that were the case, what would be our need for faith?  As the Bible says, "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." Hebrews 11:1

It is not meant for us to understand everything, no matter how hurendous the acts of sin may be. Innocent people are often victims of violence, which breaks our hearts. But when we don't understand why, that's more reason to have faith in God. With faith, you will find hope for the present and future, and you will see evidence (proof) of what you are trusting God for before it becomes a reality.

For today's Discipleship Devotional, I ask you to trust God when it comes to unanswered questions in your life:

What are you trusting God for?

What unanswered questions do you need God to answer?

When will all of your hard work lead to a breakthrough?

Like you, I too share some of the same questions. In time, we should all know, God will answer. In the meantime, trust him even when you don't understand or cannot make sense of the reasons why. Remember the words of the apostle Paul to the Corinthian Church and the wise words of Solomon to the Jewish nation:

"For we walk by faith, not by sight" II Corinthians 5:7

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding: Proverbs 3:5

God understands even when we do not.
