DOES FEAR REIGN OVER YOU?
"Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified, for the Lord your God goes with you wherever you go." Joshua 1:9
One of the best ways to get comfortable with doing or saying something that makes you uncomfortable is actually to do or say it. For example, introverts are often uncomfortable with speaking and taking the lead, while extraverts frequently struggle with talking and doing too much. I find the old saying "Practice makes perfect" to be very accurate. There are times when you must stretch outside your comfort zone, no matter how uncomfortable it may make you. The only way that will happen is with practice.
Is there something you would like to achieve, but you're unsure about going for it because it means doing and/or saying something you are not comfortable with? If so, I encourage you first to take it to the Lord in prayer. Second, if you're not comfortable taking a deep dive outside of your comfort zone, find ways to make incremental steps that will move you in the right direction. This may be your time and opportunity to make a difference in your life, but for change to come, fear cannot reign over you. Instead of fear managing you, it's time for you to manage your fears. Some of the most rewarding things I've experienced in my life happened after step I decided to step outside of my comfort zone incrementally or full speed ahead.
As you set aside time to prepare for what life has in store for you today, please carry this Discipleship Devotional in your spirit, heart, and mind. Remember, practice makes perfect, and stepping outside of your comfort zone can be a rewarding experience.
