Prayer Request for Day 40 of the Government Shutdown

"Be strong and courageous and do the work. Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the LORD God, my God, is with you. He will not fail you or forsake you." I Chronicles 28:20

1,100 flights have been canceled today because there are not enough air traffic controllers to handle normal travel demand. Many food bank shelves are empty, and additional financial support is needed. Tyler Perry recently donated over one million dollars to the food bank. Everyone is stepping up and stepping in to fill the gaps as best we can:  

  • Churches are stepping in.
  • Non-profits are stepping in.
  • Businesses are stepping in.
  • Citizens are stepping in. 

Have you thought about ways you can continue to step in, too? When the government says no, we as citizens must find ways to say yes. Robert Ingersoll said, "We rise by lifting others." As we continue to rise by lifting others, I would like to make the following Prayer Request for Day 40 of the Government Shutdown:

  • Pray for Courage: Pray that elected representatives and governmental leaders find the courage to lead and stand for what is right, even when standing firm may not be to their political benefit.
