Let's conclude the How Life Make Me _________ series with the word OTHERS. How Life Makes Me Feel for OTHERS. A common phrase often used today is, "I feel you". I don't know about you, but each day I watch the news, I feel the pain of immigrants. I served our country honorably as a United States Marine and I was placed in harms way more than once, so I can honestly say that I cannot believe that the country in which I served can be so cruel and inhumane towards certain groups/demographics of people today. Shouldn't we have learned that lesson by now? It is sad, and God is not pleased. Jesus himself was an immigrant and I can't help but wonder how we would treat him if he was with us in human form today.
Many people feel their pain and is putting their prayer life into action. As I watch what is happening in states that's primarily led by Democrats, I am more concerned about the lack of dignity and humanity shown towards people than I am about whether you are conservative, liberal, or independent. Hannah Arendt powerfully said, "The death of human empathy is one of the earliest and most telling signs of a culture about to fall into barbarism."
Does life make you feel others pain? If so, I hope your prayers are coupled with peaceful, respectful, and appropriate action. The empathy we show others can go a long way with helping us resist barbarism.
