My wife and I both enjoy traveling. Like many families, we too are discussing travel plans for spring, summer, and fall. We have even discussed possible property investments. All of that is fine, and it's nice to live in a country where such opportunities are available to its citizens. As we continue to talk and pray about future plans, I've noticed one glaring fact; we not only have to consider factors like location, taxes, and other business-related matters, but also have to discuss what color the state represents, how safe it will be and/or feel, and how welcoming the location will be to us as people of color. Having to consider such factors is truly sad, especially given that we live in 2026. One would think that by now, we should have learned more from past experiences surrounding race, culture, and class. There are times when the United States makes giant steps forward and, before you know it, giant steps backwards.

The above thoughts rushed to my mind and quickly grabbed my attention as I watched the news this morning and listened to the words of former representative, Marjorie Taylor Green who said, "You are all being incited into civil war, yet none of it solves any of the real problems that we all face, and tragically people are dying". After reading that statement, I had to ask myself, how do we solve the real problem. The answer has always stood before us.

During and after my military service, I've traveled to many places, especially places where people find ways to respect one another and live peacefully together, regardless of whether you're from a red, blue, or purple state. In my travels, I've learned that today's reality need not be tomorrow's way of life. As citizens of this country, we can turn the tide and make a positive difference. How do we make such a difference? We do so by loving the hell out of each other. That's right, the answer and best remedy for combatting hatred is love.

I have confidence in the younger generations that will one day lead this country. With time and more open minds, I believe one day everyone will be able to make plans without having to consider whether they will be generally accepted, regardless of color, class, and/or culture. I look forward to that day, and you should too.

To help prevent what I consider a prophetic warning from Marjorie Taylor Greene, let's love the hell out of each other. I'm sure there is someone you don't necessarily share a similar viewpoint with, and your political beliefs are as far apart as east is from west; find that person and share some love and grace with them.

The best remedy is LOVE!
