"I will not abandon you as orphans - I will come to you." John 14:18

Yesterday's Discipleship Devotional received lots of attention. There are times when I don't understand why specific topics are on my heart, but I have learned to follow the Holy Spirit's direction, especially when I don't understand. Instead of writing devotionals days in advance of the scheduled release date, I personally find it more fulfilling to set aside time each day to ask God, "What would you have me say to your children today?"

The responses to yesterday's devotional clearly tell me that many people are going through a tough time this holiday season. If you count yourself in that number, please know that you are not alone, even when it feels like it. Help, support, and fervent prayers from people you know and from people you don't know are available. If all else fails, remember, LifePoint is just a phone call away.

I want to bless each of my subscribers with the following words of comfort:

Never Alone

"Today allow me to reveal a universal truth.

A truth some of you, I'm sure, have already known;

Love is transcendental...

with a power and an energy all its own.

Once someone's love has touched us...

the moment their love lights up our day

their love infuses into us...

and never fades away.

Which means whenever we're feeling sad or lonely...

(once this universal truth is known)

If there is someone who has ever loved us...

we will never be alone.

I imagine it has something to do

with the inner workings of the heart...

how, once we have been loved that feeling stays with us

even when we are apart.

Reminding us how much we're loved...

how, once the seed of love is sown,

even when we're by ourself...

we will never be alone.

Jim Yerman
