"The Chicago Way - Don't Bring a Knife to a Gun Fight"

Part 3, The Shoes of the Gospel of Peace

Wednesday, I shared Part 2, The Breastplate of Righteousness. For Part 3, let's talk about The Shoes of the Gospel of Peace. "...and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace..." (Ephesians 6;15)

The sandals worn by Roman Soldiers were called caligae. Each sandal possessed heavy studs on each sole. The studs helped each soldier accomplish three things:

  1. Gain traction
  2. Keep their footing
  3. Travel across rough terrain

How does a soldier's sandals relate to Christians spiritually? What lessons can we learn from a sprirtual perspective:

Gaining Traction - Is another way of saying that you're digging deep; finding something solid you can latch onto as you fight the good fight.

Proper Footing - Empowers you with the God given ability to stand firm under enormous amounts of pressure.

Crossing Dangerous Terrain - Fighting the good fight on the adversary's turf can be dangerous.

Anchor yourself in God's peace; stand firm despite the pressure, and don't be afraid to go where ever Christ leads you.

Are you wearing:

  • Your belt of truth
  • Breastplate of righteousness
  • Shoes of the Gospel of Peace
