"The Chicago Way - Don't Bring a Knife to a Gun Fight"
Part 4, The Shield of Faith
Part-3 of our Chicago Way series talked about the shoes of the Gospel of Peace. Today, let's dive into Part-4 by talking about, "The Shield of Faith." "...above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one." (Ephesians 6;17).
The Desiring God (YouTube) describes the shild of faith as follows:
Roman Soldier Context: The Roman scutum was a large, rectangular shield made of wood, leather, and metal. Soldiers would often soak them in water before battle to extinguish flaming arrows launched by opposing forces.
Spiritual Meaning: Faith acts as a protective barrier. Trusting in God's character and promises effectively deflects and neutralizes doubts, fears, and temptations.
What's the spiritual meaning you can learn from the above description?
