The first day of our men's discipleship training went well, and the second will take place today (Monday, 6:30-8:00 PM). Just talking about the problems boys and men face today simply isn't enough. Our purpose (LifeLine Ministries CRS) is clear: "To equip people with the tools to resolve or manage conflict, heal from loss, strengthen relationships, and guide males toward becoming mature, responsible men." Achieving such a purpose takes action.
Today, I would like to introduce you to The Forge ministry and share the mission of the organization that we have entrusted to train our men for discipleship:
Who We Are
The Forge is a ministry based in Kansas City offering sound biblical counseling, leadership training, and activity groups to develop trusted friendships among men. We seek to support and serve the local church by helping men grow as faithful mentors, husbands, fathers, friends, and ultimately as sons of God. Rather than rely on themselves, we desire to see men rely upon God and other trusted men. These are friends and mentors who provide encouragement (1 Thess 5:14), support (Luke 10:36-37), bear life’s burdens (Gal. 6:2), challenge (Luke 17:3), and forgive one another
(Mark 11:25). Men today need trusted relationships to strengthen their faith and resolve to be servant leaders at home, at work, in the community, and in their local church.
Mission
Our mission is to strengthen a believer’s commitment to Christ by helping develop trusted friendships and offering sound biblical counsel. We desire to break down barriers preventing people from seeking and receiving wise biblical counsel and promote the development of relationships which sharpen character and faith. We believe this sharpening occurs through trusted friend and mentor relationships in which believers spur one another on in love and good works (Prov. 27:17, Heb. 10:24). Not only do believers challenge one another in these trusted relationships, but they also celebrate together with Christ in times of triumph as they live out core traits of biblical character. They fulfill the law of Christ by bearing one another’s burdens (Gal. 6:2) and offering wise counsel and advice.
